Some Chapter 7 Highlights
In Chapter 7 we will explore how the Constitution has responded to the changing needs and demands of society. We will explore the fight and struggle to change laws and the resulting amendments that have been added to address social justice and equality.
We will explore court cases like Dred Scott, Plessy v. Ferguson, Brown v, Board of Education, University of California v. Bakke, and more.
The Children's March is a video we will watch as we learn about the integration of our school system.
We will watch clips from the movie Iron Jawed Angels which depicts Alice Paul, a suffragist, and her challenge against President Wilson to give women the right to vote.
Youtube clip of Alice Paul in prison for "obstructing traffic". She was not guilty and refused to admit guilt for something she did not do. She was only guilty of protesting with signs outside the White House for women's right to vote, which according to our constitution was/is a legal right.
